Kitty Cats and Our Guests

Frankie & Molly met our guests. Since we have had the kitty cats in our home, we have not entertained guests. The past few days we have had some friends over. Today our friend Pat came over for a visit. This is the second time the cats met a stranger,in their home. Molly, pictured above, was a little apprehensive at first but did not run and hide. She kept her short distance. Frankie was in the closet taking his cat nap when Pat arrived. A few shakes of the treat bottle and Frankie was front and center. He hardly noticed Pat at first because his focus was on that treat bottle. Pat had him eating out of her hands, or rather knocking the treats out of her hands. Molly came up for her treats and did eat out of Pats' hands. They both became comfortable with Pat and it only took a few minutes. Last week is another story. We had our friends Dave & Laurie over. For some reason the cats did not want to hang out with them. Frankie gave them a sniff or two and went to his favorite hideout for the rest of the visit. Molly showed no interest at all towards  the two strangers in her house and she stayed in the other room. Remember though, it was the first time they both met new people in their house. I'm sure the next time will be much better. Happy Holidays to everyone and best wishes for the new year.

That Cat Can Dance

Frankie cuts loose as he gets in the Christmas spirit.

We found Frankie, ( above ), through craigslist. A back street breeder, as we now call him, advertised a 100% Siamese male kitten for sale. This was to be our second cat as we adopted Molly, the Maine coon mix, six weeks earlier when she was ten months old. The breeder kept putting us off when it came time for the papers on Frankie. We did not need them because Frankie was to be a pet and not used for breeding. There was also paper work from the Vet, we were to receive. We never received them and our phone calls went unanswered. We have followed this person, via craigslist, and as soon as possible another litter was up for sale. These poor cats are being used as an ATM. The day we picked up Frankie, we asked to see the father. We had seen pictures of the mother online but never the father. We were told he was hiding and it would have been difficult to find him. I was surprised because the apartment was about 400 sq. ft. We were smitten with Frankie so nothing else mattered. We do question the 100% Siamese, not that it would make a difference in our relationship with Frankie but to clarify our suspicions about the breeder. We believe Frankie has a bit of Birman in him. He is a wonderful, smart cat and we are all enjoying each other. That was not the case when we brought Frankie home to meet Molly. I will talk about that in another post. Have a great Holiday Season and a wonderful new year.

It's a Great Day to be a Cat

This is a video we did for a contest Vimeo hosted. The theme was to be about your pet(s). We portrayed our cats as being introduced for the first time. Molly, the large black cat, was the first to be adopted. She was one year old at the time of the video. She was 10 months old the day we adopted her. Frankie, the little Siamese , was 10 weeks old when we adopted him. Molly is from a pet rescue and Frankie was from a sort of back street breeder. That is another story. Anyway, the idea of the video is that Frankie is not welcomed by Molly, so Frankie starts working out so he can be in shape to take on this massive  opponent. I hope you enjoy this video.
