Cat Tries Bra on for Size

These guys are always finding ways to get caught up in something or find themselves in trouble again. Not only is Frankie the wrong gender, he is too young for a bra..... but he wants to try

My cat has a hissy fit when ever the other one is taken out and comes back home.

Our cats have been together for about fifteen months now. They are both indoor cats. Molly, the oldest, is from a pet rescue and we got her when she was nine months old. Frankie we have had since he was ten weeks old and he came to live with Molly about two months after we brought Molly home. The two of them get along great and it didn't take long for them to bond. The first time we had to take Frankie out of the house was when he was getting neutered. He was supposed to come home that day but there was a problem, the vet told us he bit open the incision area and needed to stay over night. The next day we picked up Frankie and he had the cone of  embarrassment on which made him very nervous. We got him home and let him out of the cage and he ran like mad, bumping into things and getting stuck because of the cone. Well I guess this freaked Molly out, Frankie not only looked different but smelled different too because of the hospital he had just spent the night in. Well Molly wanted nothing to do with Frankie and would hiss whenever he got close. Even after we took the cone off Frankie, Molly didn't want him near. This went on for a few days and we started to worry. Then, little by little, Molly started to come around until they were back to normal.

About a month ago, from the date of this post, we took Frankie to get a sanitary cut at the groomer. He was out of the house for about five hours. When he came home, Molly started again with the hissing and swatting and Frankie. This went on for a few days until they were back to normal and we figured it was because of the odd smell Frankie had after his bath ad cut.

Then last week, we had to take Frankie to the vet for routine stuff. We were back in the house about three hours later. Molly started up again, she would hiss but no swatting this time. We couldn't believe it, these guys are normally best friends, they play together and sleep together no problem. It seemed to take the better part of three days for Molly to come around. Frankie will run up to her in play but Molly would hiss and walk away. They are better now but still not at the point of playing together like they used to. I'm sure that will happen soon, the past being my guide.

We were wondering if others have had this experience. FYI, Molly is a maincoon mix and has only stayed in cages since the time she was rescued as a kitten, approx. 10 months. Frankie is a siamese. Frankie , we were told, is 100% siamese according to the back street breeder we got him from. We never got to see the Father and we were promised papers on Frankie but after two attempts, we gave up. The papers are not important to us, we are not doing anything with him that requires papers. He is just part of our family

and we love him and Molly very much.

Home Alone

There is a social media website for us pets.    mypaws.com ,,,, You can find us on it.

We will be leaving our two cats alone for the weekend for the first time. Our friends Pat & Frank are helping us out by coming over to feed and take care of our cats needs while we are gone. I'm sure we will be a little nervous. They are in good hands.

Lightweight Clumping Litter is a Little Sticky

I hope everyone is enjoying the New Year 2014. Time sure passes quickly. The country is experiencing some heavy duty weather. Cold weather stretches all the way south to Florida. Our cats have sure perked up a bit more from the chill.
The litter we normally use for our cats is a 35 lb. container of clumping litter. We love it and the cats seem to also. One day we came across a sale for a lightweight version of the same litter, so we gave it a try. At first everything seemed fine. A few days later, we noticed the litter was sticking in and around our cats paws and it was difficult to remove. This will be the last time we use the lightweight version of this litter. We are wondering if others have experienced the same situation.

Kitty Cats and Our Guests

Frankie & Molly met our guests. Since we have had the kitty cats in our home, we have not entertained guests. The past few days we have had some friends over. Today our friend Pat came over for a visit. This is the second time the cats met a stranger,in their home. Molly, pictured above, was a little apprehensive at first but did not run and hide. She kept her short distance. Frankie was in the closet taking his cat nap when Pat arrived. A few shakes of the treat bottle and Frankie was front and center. He hardly noticed Pat at first because his focus was on that treat bottle. Pat had him eating out of her hands, or rather knocking the treats out of her hands. Molly came up for her treats and did eat out of Pats' hands. They both became comfortable with Pat and it only took a few minutes. Last week is another story. We had our friends Dave & Laurie over. For some reason the cats did not want to hang out with them. Frankie gave them a sniff or two and went to his favorite hideout for the rest of the visit. Molly showed no interest at all towards  the two strangers in her house and she stayed in the other room. Remember though, it was the first time they both met new people in their house. I'm sure the next time will be much better. Happy Holidays to everyone and best wishes for the new year.

That Cat Can Dance

Frankie cuts loose as he gets in the Christmas spirit.

We found Frankie, ( above ), through craigslist. A back street breeder, as we now call him, advertised a 100% Siamese male kitten for sale. This was to be our second cat as we adopted Molly, the Maine coon mix, six weeks earlier when she was ten months old. The breeder kept putting us off when it came time for the papers on Frankie. We did not need them because Frankie was to be a pet and not used for breeding. There was also paper work from the Vet, we were to receive. We never received them and our phone calls went unanswered. We have followed this person, via craigslist, and as soon as possible another litter was up for sale. These poor cats are being used as an ATM. The day we picked up Frankie, we asked to see the father. We had seen pictures of the mother online but never the father. We were told he was hiding and it would have been difficult to find him. I was surprised because the apartment was about 400 sq. ft. We were smitten with Frankie so nothing else mattered. We do question the 100% Siamese, not that it would make a difference in our relationship with Frankie but to clarify our suspicions about the breeder. We believe Frankie has a bit of Birman in him. He is a wonderful, smart cat and we are all enjoying each other. That was not the case when we brought Frankie home to meet Molly. I will talk about that in another post. Have a great Holiday Season and a wonderful new year.

It's a Great Day to be a Cat

This is a video we did for a contest Vimeo hosted. The theme was to be about your pet(s). We portrayed our cats as being introduced for the first time. Molly, the large black cat, was the first to be adopted. She was one year old at the time of the video. She was 10 months old the day we adopted her. Frankie, the little Siamese , was 10 weeks old when we adopted him. Molly is from a pet rescue and Frankie was from a sort of back street breeder. That is another story. Anyway, the idea of the video is that Frankie is not welcomed by Molly, so Frankie starts working out so he can be in shape to take on this massive  opponent. I hope you enjoy this video.
